For the past few years, I genuinely felt like my body was stuck in survival mode.
What a lot of people do not realize is that weight gain is not always about being lazy, overeating, or “not trying hard enough.” Sometimes your body is carrying stress that never fully left your system. And I truly believe that is what happened to me.
Over the past few years I went through an overwhelming amount of stress physically, mentally, and emotionally. From a serious car accident, to nearly dying in the hospital from COVID and pneumonia, to being in a horrible relationship, to dealing with constant stress from work… my body completely changed.
My hormones felt completely out of balance.
My nervous system felt exhausted.
And no matter what I did, my weight would not move.
Before all of this, my normal weight was around 135–140 pounds. Then over time I gained around 40 pounds, and it felt impossible to lose it no matter how hard I tried.
And trust me… I tried.
I worked out constantly, I would aim to work out at least 3–4 times a week. Walking for hours, riding my bike, rollerblading, lifting weights. I naturally eat pretty healthy already, so it was not like I was living off fast food every day. For the most part I eat clean. Sure, I might have an ice cream or a cannoli the week before my period, but overall I have always been mindful about what I put into my body.
Nothing was working.
I honestly believe the environment and stress I was surrounded by played a massive role in what happened to me physically. Your body keeps score, and eventually mine started showing it.
Ironically, when I was first introduced to peptides about three years ago, I was completely against them. A friend of mine had asked if I wanted to help sell them and I immediately said no. I did not trust them at all.
I barely even trust birth control.
I do not take flu vaccines.
So the thought of injecting peptides into my body felt extremely intimidating to me.
But after nearly three years of trying everything naturally and still feeling stuck, I finally reached a point where I knew something needed to change.
I had an entire wardrobe sitting in my closet with tags still attached from before I gained weight, and honestly… after years of staring at clothes I could not comfortably wear anymore, I was exhausted emotionally.
Enough was enough.
So I finally decided to stop being afraid and actually do my own research. I spent weeks reading, learning, comparing options, and trying to understand how peptides worked before making any decisions for myself.
After all of that research, I decided to start my journey with Retatrutide.
And honestly?
It has been amazing so far.
I officially started my peptide journey in March 2026, and as of now I am down 15 pounds already.
But more than the weight loss, the biggest thing for me has been finally feeling hopeful again.
This journey is not about becoming “perfect.”
It is about finally feeling like myself again.
I wanted to start documenting this experience because I know there are other women out there silently struggling with their bodies, their hormones, stress, inflammation, confidence, or feeling disconnected from themselves after difficult periods in life.
This blog is simply my personal diary through all of it. The good, the bad, the exciting, the emotional, the healing, and everything in between.
If you are here reading this because you are trying to figure things out too, welcome.
You are not alone.
